Agforce Grains President Brendan Taylor says Queensland's winter crop harvest is set to be one of the state's biggest harvests in "a number of years".

"This will be our biggest harvest by far since 2016, and '16 was largely a record because of the chickpea harvest that largely came out of Central Queensland," Mr Taylor told Sky News Australia.

He said Central Queensland has "had a pretty rough time of it" rainfall-wise in recent years including this year - with winter crop in the region being "quite small compared to previous years".

"But the southern half of the state could potentially be looking at records coming out of the cereal, so wheat and barely.

"It's certainly going to be one of our bigger ones for a number of years but certainly since 2016." Queensland to have 'one of biggest harvests' in 'a number of years'
